WHAT we do

We provide a range of bespoke mentoring projects for young people aged 8 - 16 at schools and youth centres in Manchester and east London, utilising a range of fun activities including sports and dance to engage with the young people most at need.

At the projects mentors help young people develop numeracy and literacy skills, whilst also learning communication and memory skills which we believe are important for future careers.

The other side of our mentoring work is developing valuable character-building skills, with a clear focus on our core values – promoting fairness, self-control, good judgement and staying power.

Helping young people develop these fundamental character attributes, as well as others such as commitment, punctuality, reliability, team work skills and respect, gives our young people the best possible chance to fulfil their full potential, both in their careers and personal lives.

This innovative approach of using fun positive activities such as sports and dance to support both character development and academic competence sets us apart from other organisations – and helping our young people develop these transferable skills and positive personal qualities is a vital part of helping them achieve a better future.

We ensure all volunteers are prepared and fully supported in their mentoring so they can have maximum impact and obtain maximum benefit.

We provide accredited training (including safeguarding training) to equip mentors with the skills they need to inspire and be inspired by the young people they mentor.

We take safety seriously and require all volunteers to undergo Enhanced Disclosure checks with the Criminal Records Bureau.

We are particularly focused on transforming those young people who receive mentoring into peer mentors themselves so they can take on responsibility for inspiring others whilst learning new skills themselves.
