The ReachOut! Academies in Manchester

Summary

The ReachOut! Academies in Manchester will run from 4-15 p.m. to 7-45 p.m. (South Manchester) and 3-15 p.m. to 6-45 p.m (North Manchester) on Friday evenings.

The ReachOut! Manchester Football Academies are innovative (but now proven) projects, (currently for boys only but we hope to offer opportunities for girls in the future) that combine playing football with academic work and character mentoring.

We work with young people from Moss Side and Wythenshawe in the South of the City (ReachOut! South Manchester Academy) and Blackley in the North (ReachOut! North Manchester Academy) and aim to help both groups achieve their potential both in the classroom and on the football field.

All mentors are required to have a valid CRB and will have to complete training via an Effective Mentoring Skills workshop.

These projects will allow mentors to work with a very special group of young men.

Mentor responsibilities will be to work with the mentees through their academics specifically, while also taking part in character building sessions. Mentors are required to act as role models and should feel like a part of the team that works towards the success of the young men involved, both on the football pitch, and, more importantly, off it. Mentors will be required to help out with the academic and character support but taking part in the football is an option. If you prefer, you can help out with other tasks.

This is an excellent project, and provides both mentees and mentors with a unique opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and be a part of a very special community.
