Letter from Xavier Bosch (RO Chief Executive)
The newsletter which you now hold in your hands (or more likely appearing on your screen!) illustrates the generosity of people who in many different ways, big and small, have given up something for someone.
Most of us at some stage want to make a difference. Hundreds of people have achieved this through ReachOut! and had a huge impact on the lives of many children and young people living in areas which government statistics using multiple indices identify as areas of high deprivation.

Case Study: Tshepo
Tshepo goes to St John’s Primary School in Wythenshawe. ReachOut! have worked with St John’s for several years; it is a school where 25% of children have English as an additional language and where eligibility for free school meals is high (Ofstead 2010). Tshepo is in Year 3 and was referred to us as he needed help concentrating and recognising words and sounds from text.
“It’s so much fun mentoring Tshepo” says his mentor, Maeve, who studies at the University of Manchester. Tshepo agreed, saying that mentoring gave him energy and strength for his learning, as well as making it exciting. He told us “I want to do it everyday!”

RO Week

ReachOut! Week 2011 came to a close earlier last month. It was a resounding success, with over £4, 700 raised. Our fantastic volunteers raised the most cash in recent years by doing everything from a huge sponsored walk to local cake sales.

Fund Raising Event in London for our trip to Barcelona
Charity Cup 2011
 Reachout! Charity Cup 2011 Tournament went again third year running which this year was on the 25th February 2011.
It was a very wild tournament this year, money became tight but not to worry - ReachOut! still got on with the job. As in previous years the young people took the spot light, doing all the jobs and organising most of the tournament. Read More |

Over 30 young people from ReachOut! got a taste of working life at Nando’s busy Oxford Road Store and an accredited OCN qualification in Interview and Application techniques was also on the menu as part of a new series of employment workshops which are now part of the services offered by ReachOut! ReachOut! gains new staff members thanks to Vodafone
Vodafone World of Difference Awards
 Suzanne Mitchell and Javi Segarra have beaten of stiff competition to undertake a unique two month placement at ReachOut! this March and April. The two have won places on Vodafone’s national World of Difference program, which generously foots the bill for two months of work at a charity of your choice. Read More |

 On Monday 21st February four year 11 students who attend an Enabling Enterprise course run by ReachOut! in Hackney, had the chance to find out about careers at an exciting event.
