August at the Manchester Enterprise Academy and St.Pauls RC High School in Wythenshawe, Chorlton High School in Chorlton and Our Lady’s RC High School in Higher Blackely has never been quite the same since ReachOut! launched its summer projects 4 years ago, and this year was no exception.
We are a voluntary mentoring programme. Today each week, hundreds of children and young people in London and Manchester have a two hour, one on one mentoring session with a young adult. The children come from inner city areas, from socially and economically deprived communities. Some are at risk of exclusion.
Fashion guru Gok Wan was in Manchester to launch this year’s Vodafone World of Difference campaign. Wan, the ambassador for the scheme, met a sample of local charities that have been recent beneficiaries of the programme.
ReachOut! London had their first ever fundraising night walking event in July 2010. The event itself was a great success and heaps of fun. To have a glimpse of this event watch the Walk-a-long video.
The Outward Bound course is in an integral part of the Junior Mentor Leadership Training programme developed for the mentees of ReachOut! The programme is aimed at mentees, male and female, aged 14 and above. Read More
Ged Poyning and Heidi Hinchliffe attended an empowering four day youth summit in Lexsand Sweden which drew together 1700 delegates from around the world. ReachOut! was part of the Young Foundation youth delegation (10 organisations) that delivered presentations to the international audience of youth leaders, NGOs, businesses and social entrepreneurs.

Everyday 1 out of 4 children, born into our world, has a hearing difficulty, whether they are hearing impaired or deaf. From then on their life and the lives of those who care for them will be filled with constant reminders that they are different from other people. That they are, as a person in society, impaired. The question, which therefore arises, is, why?
