Manchester- Harpur Mount Primary School Project

Address: Alfred Street, Harpurhey, Manchester, M9 5XR

map

Dates: Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. 1-30 pm to 3-15 pm plus travel time.

Classroom based with an opportunity to work outside the classroom by arrangement with your mentee's teacher! We hope to arrange at least one trip to the University during the year so you can show your mentee where you hang out!

This project started in October 2007. The OFSTED report in March 2008 (the last one published) said:

This larger than average primary school serves a mainly White British population and has small groups of pupils from a range of other ethnic heritages. A small proportion of pupils are at the early stages of learning English. The area has significant social and economic disadvantage and two-thirds of pupils are entitled to free school meals. Larger than usual numbers of pupils move in and out of the school during the year. Around one-third of pupils have learning difficulties and/or disabilities. In recent years, there has been significant disruption to the school caused by movement and illness among the staff. Extended provision includes a breakfast club. The school has successfully achieved the following awards: Healthy schools - Silver; Eco schools - Bronze.
