Since being introduced by a Macquarie member of staff in 2009, ReachOut have enjoyed a fantastic partnership with Macquarie Group who have provided ongoing support for us in a variety of helpful and creative ways. In 2012 ReachOut became a strategic grant partner of the Macquarie Group Foundation and we are currently into the second round of a three year funding relationship with the firm. Over £250,000 has been donated through grants and match funding for staff. Over the years Macquarie employees have raised funds for ReachOut by running the London Marathon and the Hackney Half marathon, participating in the annual ReachOut Charity Cup football tournament, competing in a Rowathon and a taking part in a Keepy Uppy competition.  Not only have Macquarie provided long term funding for the ReachOut ACE programme, they have funded our Macquarie branded football kits and donated an incredible £8,000 from the sale of redundant IT assets in 2011.

As well as funding, staff engagement by Macquarie employees continues to grow. They have been instrumental in helping us support our young people to achieve their potential by providing regular volunteer mentors, facilitating employability workshops for students, providing work experience opportunities and hosting coding clubs.  They have even let us take over their board room and meeting rooms to host away days, award ceremonies and our annual Impact Report launch evening!

It’s a mutually beneficial partnership as Jamie Broom, Associate Director at Macquarie Group and volunteer mentor at the ReachOut Academy, explains:

“I have learnt to connect with a greater range of people which has helped me when dealing with different personalities at work. ReachOut has also taught me ways to motivate individuals and to communicate effectively with them. At first, there were occasions where I felt out of my comfort zone but these turned out to be times where I was gaining new life experiences.”
