Join the team as our Operations Officer Job Title: Operations Officer Reporting to: Director of Operations Contract: Permanent (probationary period of 6 months) Location: London Office, Dalston Hours: Full time, 9.00 - 17.30 Monday to Friday Salary: £23,970 to 27,030 pa (depending on experience) Holidays: 30 days per year Start date: June 2018 Overview of the role ReachOut is looking for an Operations Officer to work with the Director of Operations to ensure the smooth running of the charity. With experience of providing operations support in, you will assist with office, finance and human resources (HR) related administration, as well as leading projects within these areas depending on your skills, interests and aspirations. We are looking for a quick learner who is highly motivated to improve the running of our small but effective charity. This is an ideal role for anyone thinking about a career in operations, finance or HR within the charity sector. Training will be provided. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain in depth experience and understanding of how a charity functions. You’ll be trained to undertake a wide variety of tasks from creating management accounts and processing pensions and expenses, to reviewing organisational policies and procedures and training the team to use them. In addition, you’ll gain knowledge of charity governance, Charity Commission regulations, employment law and much more. ReachOut is a friendly and collaborative organisation and you’ll work closely with our project delivery and fundraising teams playing a crucial role in enabling them to carry out their roles and support as many young people as possible. Job Description Support with financial processes, including taking on responsibility for preparation of monthly management accounts, managing invoices and expenses, paying in cheques and donations and keeping accurate records. Support with HR management, including staff recruitment (advertising, writing job descriptions, interview questions etc.), staff inductions, developing our benefits offering, managing annual leave requests, keeping HR policies up to date, processing pensions, maintaining accurate HR records. Work with Salesforce, our database of young people and volunteers, to support the project and fundraising teams to collect and analyse data through the platform. Responsible for office management to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the office, including maintaining office supplies, liaising with cleaning contractors, buying furniture where required. Support general IT queries and liaise with IT support when needed Work with, and provide support to, the Director of Operations, in areas such as impact measurement and budgeting. Provide administrative support to wider ReachOut team when required Any other duties as required by ReachOut To act in a manner that is in keeping with ReachOut’s values. Person Specification Belief in the ReachOut mission and passionate about our character building agenda Proven fast learner Excellent IT skills (including Microsoft Office) Energetic, self-motivated and reliable Exceptional time management and organisational skills Ability to multi-task and prioritise own workload Ability to work flexibly and cooperatively within a small team environment Effective communication skills: orally and in writing Confident in applying maths skills in a work context A-level maths or equivalent (desirable) Knowledge of financial systems and processes (desirable) Experience of using and managing a database system, such as Salesforce (desirable) Experience of bookkeeping and the accountancy software Quickbooks (desirable) Please note, if you are a successful candidate you will be required to undergo an enhanced criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
